Memorial Speech on Bangabandhu held at UGC

University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh organised a Memorial Speech on the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 16 August 2018. UGC arranged the discussion marking the 43rd death anniversiary of Father of the Nation and the National Mourning Day.

Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, Director General of Bangla Academy spoke on the occasion as the Memorial Speaker. UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan presided over the function. UGC Secratery Dr. Md. Khaled gave the welcome address.

Professor Shamsuzzaman said Bangabandhu had a strong personality. He had brought the whole nation under one umbrella. He declared independence in March in 1971. Professor Shamsuzzaman urged the young generation to take lesson from the life and works of Father of the Nation.

UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan said Bangabandhu and 17 others of his family were killed in a planned conspiracy in 1975. He became Father of the Nation from a political worker, said UGC Chairman.

He said everyone must know Bangabandhu with a view to knowing Bangladesh. Professor Abdul Mannan urged all to work together to build Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla.

UGC Members Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah and Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, divisional heads and other officials of UGC were present on the occasion.
